Conducting certain operations require obtaining an authorization letter called LOA (Letter of Authorization) from ANAC - National Agency of Civil Aviation. In order to obtain this LOA having the aircraft certified for operation is not enough - besides the certification of the aircraft, it must be proven by ANAC that the operator is properly prepared to perform the intended operation.

Among some of the specific operations that would require the issuance of a LOA are:

- PBN (Performance Based Navigation), including the spaces RNAV 10, 5, 2 and 1; RNP 4, 1 , RNP APCH, RNP AR APCH and APV/ BARO VNAV
- RVSM (Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum)
